Thick, dark and rich: our most prized honey. Bees make Sidr honey from the blossoms of the Sidr (Beri) tree. It's deep amber and very thick, with a warm, caramel-like taste. We sell it raw, just as the beekeepers collect it.
- Where it's from: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK)
- Harvest season: September to October
- Sizes: 200g, 500g and 1kg
- Packed in: Glass jars
- Keeps: 1 to 2 years once opened, with the lid on, in a cool, dry place
Better value: the 1kg jar works out 12% cheaper per kg than the 200g jar.
How to enjoy it
Take a spoonful on its own, stir it into warm (not boiling) tea or milk, or drizzle it over paratha, toast, yoghurt or porridge.
Good to know
Why has my honey turned thick or grainy?
That's crystallisation, a natural sign of raw honey. Stand the closed jar in warm water for a few minutes and it will turn runny again. Please don't microwave it.
Why does Sidr cost more than other honeys?
Sidr trees flower for a short season each autumn, so there's less of it, and it's the thickest, richest honey we sell.
Can I give it to my baby?
No. Honey of any kind shouldn't be given to babies under 12 months old.
